First I am gonna tell you that the tempest which is a play is written by England's greatest poet and dramatist, William Shakespeare. He has given many other profound works which we will dis later . First I will tell you everything about the TEMPEST

Some important characters that will be introduced in the first scene are these -
- Master of the ship
- Boatswain
- Alonso
- Antonio
- Gonzalo
- Sebastian
- Mariners
Here " master " , "boatswain" and " mariners" are the people or workers of the ship which is carrying all the royal passengers.
The scene begins on the ship itself . The ship is overwhelming with thunder , wind and lightning could be heard all around . You can say that there is a situation like a tornado is hitting the ship . This is how the scene begins.
Then the play begins with the conversation between master and boatswain of the ship . They are exchanging information about the worse situation that has befallen on the ship. Master yells the boatswain to tell mariners that they should be ready to face this terrible situation.

Then boatswain is telling instructions to the boatswain not to lose hope. They should try to save the ship from being wrecked at any cost.
In the meantime, Alonso and Gonzalo begin to disturb him by asking him about the master . And boatswain is telling them to remain calm. At last boatswain become angry and started shouting at them saying they are creating trouble in their duty.
Then there comes some abusive words of Gonzalo towards the boatswain. He started telling him that he will die by hanging. Boatswain voice is louder than the the roar of the storm.

Soon after it boatswain begin to instruct Mariners how to keep control over the ship in this situation.
Soon after enters the Sebastian, Antonio and Gonzalo.
Sebastian says to boatswain that you may be afflicted with a such disease so that you can not shout at us.
Antonio also says that he should be hanged.
Then mariners came completely soaked in water. They tells that there is no hope of surviving now . The ship will wreck soon and everything will be destroyed.
Then Gonzalo prays to the God . He says that he will give thousand furlong of sea for an acre of barren land .
